MagInc measures the geomagnetic field to derive and display the inclination angle between the magnetic flux lines and the ground, called Magnetic Dip.
A normal compass is limited to measure the direction of the horizontal magnetic field component to determine the magnetic north direction, whereas MagInc displays additionally the vertical magnetic flux line component.
The app is able to detect magnetic anomalies by comparing the calculated magnetic inclination, which depends on the locations latitude, with the measured magnetic dip.
Anomalies, expressed in deviations from the standard field direction and flux density, are mainly caused by electrical devices nearby or reinforced concrete within modern buildings but also due to ferromagnetic materials within the crust of the earth.

The App provides four screens to present the different types of data:

1.) Extended Compass:
The Extended Compass displays not only the magnetic north direction but also the magnetic flux density as well as the measured and calculated magnetic inclination. The circular scale is labeled from 0° - 90° for the inclination and from 0µT - 300µT to provide a reading for the flux density.

a.) The green arrow indicates the magnetic north (Heading)
b.) A green arc aligned with the north direction represents the current measured magnetic inclination (M-Inclination)
c.) The green marked vector, with a circle at its tip, displays the measured absolute magnetic flux density (Mag.-Field) in µT
d.) The calculated magnetic dip (C-Inclination) is shown by a blue circle

2.) Magnetic Inclination:
By drawing a green vector that screen displays the magnetic flux line angle in relation to the ground.

The following data are displayed:
a.) Measured Inclination Angle (M-Inclination) colored in green
b.) Calculated Inclination Angle (C-Inclination) colored in blue
c.) The red marked difference Angle (D-Inclination) between the calculated and measured values

3.) Settings:
Within the Settings-Screen it is possible to activate/deactivate the display of the calculated inclination angle, which bases on the current locations latitude. To get the latitude the app needs to access the location service temporarily.

4.) Information / Instructions:
This is a short manual to explain the usage of the app and its measured values.

If the device attitude in roll or pitch exceeds 80° then a red cross indicates that the displayed data are not valid anymore to assure that the measured values are within acceptable tolerance.
